Romantic Getaway...

May 21st was our five year wedding anniversary, so to celebrate we went on a spectacular vacation (no kids!!!) to Vail in June. We booked, what we later found out was, the nicest hotel in the city, and had these strawberries greeting us when we entered our room. We had a good laugh about the staff thinking we were that fancy! I guess we could pretend for 3 days!

Below was a stunning view of the mountains as we drove through.

We wanted to jump right into activities, so we rented mountain bikes our first morning. We both agreed it was probably our favorite activity, since we got to see the entire area in such a short time, and there were fabulous trails along the river.




After mountain biking, it rained for the rest of the day. We're just under a covered bridge.

Some of our very best best friends, Dave & Emily, live in Denver. Emily is actually Joe's cousin, and she married Joe's best friend/roommate from college. They were awesome enough to make the hour and a half drive up to Vail to join us for an evening of "no kids" fun. We went out to dinner at a very good, very authentic, Italian restaurant. Then they drove home and we were sad. Someday we'll live by each other again, guys, someday...

The next day we took the gondola up the mountain to hike around and see the views. They were amazing views.

We also went white water rafting, but couldn't take pictures... it was AWESOME, though, and we'd love to do it again. Below is a picture when we stopped at a scenic view spot on our drive back to Denver.
