Hunter's ONE Today!

Hunter had his first birthday today, and with it came his beachy day of celebration! The happiest we have EVER seen Hunter were those days at the beach in Savannah; since I like to make their cakes based on their most favorite thing, that meant a sandcastle cake! Along with it came the entire beachy theme, including the indoor sandbox (which he ate about half a cup of, and only stopped when taken away from it). We had over the two families who we felt were closest to Hunter, and had a pulled pork lunch together. Thanks for coming, you guys!

The sandcastle cake! Snickerdoodle cake with snickerdoodle frosting, then coated in graham crumbs. Lots of fun!

Gifts! He still doesn't really get it... I guess that's a good thing? Thank you for all the wonderful gifts! He really loves playing with new things, but just doesn't get excited for the whole unwrapping part.

I must show off his most impressive gift (no offense to the other gifts, but you'll see what I mean)! Our awesome friend Brittany is an artist (seriously, she used to be an art teacher), and she hand decorated this wooden box for him, all personalized for Hunter! The top has his name crafted out of clay letters; one side is an ocean scene (since Hunter loves the aquarium), another is a farmyard scene (since Hunter loves his Fisher Price barn), and the third is music based (since Hunter dances every chance he gets)! Many of the pieces are hand crafted clay, then attached (like the turtle, fish, jelly, cow, pig, guitar, keyboard, musical notes, tree pieces and bird (on the top). AMAZING!!! Thank you so much, Brittany!!! We're going to treasure this forever!
