I took my mom to Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe. We were lucky to have a very sunny morning, so the water was sparkling like glitter and showing all its gorgeous hues of green and aqua (probably why they named it "Emerald" bay?). It's also very hard to see, but out on the island top is a small replica of a Scandanavian castle which was built as a summer home for a wealthy family in 1929. It is now owned by the state and open for touring in the summertime (which we're looking forward to!).
After the scenic view of Emerald Bay, we crossed to the other side of the road and hiked the Eagle Falls trail. There was still quite a bit of snow over there! We were walking on about three feet of packed snow. This area is a higher elevation than the city of South Lake Tahoe (around 6,300 ft.).
Waterfalls are really hard to see in pictures, but it's there behind the boys, I promise! :) We ate lunch at this spot, and it was beautiful!
